Time to Give the Meat a Break

I think today is the last day that i throw streamers for a bit. the section we fished saw a lot of redds and several fish on them. the fish seem to be more concentrated on reproducing then eating the big sexy stuff so i am done till after the spawn, not only with streamers but fishing for browns period. if i have no other species to chase then i am done fishing for a minute. we did manage a couple of smaller fish each but the fishing was pretty pathetic.

Still Chasin'

So went out today for a few hours to see if the fish would still chase streamers. i was actually surprised to get as many chases and fish as i did. this time of year is better suited for nymphing but i was pleased by the results. i threw olive on the way upstream and switched to some white meat on the way down. both fished pretty well. i fished a section i haven't fished for a couple of years so it was nice to see this water again.

Slowing Down in my World

Myself, jake and jerry went to throw some meat at some brownies but the fish didn't seem to want to play along with us, in fact, i'm not sure if i've ever been shunned so badly before. we ended up changing things up and got into a few fish at a local pond. all in all it was a complete ass whoopin displayed by the fish.

Not so Productive

Me and scott got to the river bout 8:30am. the river had cleared up just a bit from the other day and had also dropped a little. 3rd cast into the day i landed a 19 1/2 inch brownie so we thought that the day was going to be pretty damn good. well it all went down hill from there. we only picked up a small few fish the rest of the day. this time of year is pretty hit and miss.

Friday F*@k Fest

Jake and i headed north to chase some big buttery browns only to thoroughly get our asses handed to us. the flows had dropped a little more then they were a  couple of weeks ago so the fishing was even tougher. we stayed there till about noon with a couple of fish landed, including a cutty that went 20 inches. other then that it was a small fish each. we decided to drive back to some closer waters. fishing was a bit slow there as well but i did muster a brown that pushed 22". hopefully tommorrow will go a

bit better.

Some Buttery Goodness

Took a little solo trip today anticipating the low, clear waters that have been present all summer. well the irrigation waters have finally been diverted back to the river where it belongs, so the river was high and staind. i do believe that maybe the staind waters have an affect on the fishes ability to precisely zero in on the streamer as it's cutting through the water cause i sure do get a lot of misses in off color waters. ended up with pushin a dozen or so fish in a few hours work so i will chalk it up as a good outing.
