1st time in years

It was the 1st time in about 5 years that i have fished this stretch of river. i used to fish it quite a bit till it started getting way over played so i steered clear of it for quite sometime. me and matt took a drive out there and it had been even longer for matt since he last fished it. the weather man said it would be a brisk 28 degrees. by mid day it was a very pleasant 28 degrees. the flows were perfect and the water was crystal clear. we landed a handful of fish each with several reaching the 20 inch mark. today was a nymphing day with a double sow set up being the ticket. i did switch to a streamer for awhile but had no luck with it.

Possibly my last go...

....for the year on the res. its about time to start working some rivers again so this might have been my last time on the res for the year. me and matt started on the west side with minimal success then at about noon moved over to the east side with even less success. we moved a few good fish and i did muster one on a mouse but overall, for a l day, it was not very good.

Vets day

Gerald had the day off as well so we took a drive to the res. temps were supposed to be around 50 and the skies were blue. we both started with some top water shit but we didnt muster anything up top. streamers pulled a few fish for us but it wasnt overly productive. the other day when i was out the fishing was much better when there was no wind and the water was calm. as soon as the wind picked up the fishing turned off for the most part. most of the day on monday was breezing and the water had some chop.

Me and the youngen

My wife had to work so i was on baby sittin duty. off to the lake we went. for a mid november day it was pretty sweet weather. not a cloud in the sky and the water was smooth. the wind did start to pick up at about the last hour we were there. i ended up fishing a cove that i never had before. it had some decent depth to it. i caught a handful of cutts in the 18-19 inch range, lost a couple and moved a bunch others. it wasnt till we were at our stopping point that i told alanna, 3 more casts and we are done. on that 2nd cast i hooked a toad. he ended up being my best fish out of that lake. 26 inches and very girthy. it was a great way to end the day. we were only on the water for about 4 hours so i cant complain on the quantity. streamers all day.

With my daughter

I told my daughter that i was gonna take her fishing and i let her decide where we were heading. we went to the big res. it was breezy as soon as we got there, around (9ish). the wind continued to increase all day, we only made it about 3hrs until it was white capping and just to much work. i did land 3 skinny cutts of about the 18" variety. i also did move a handful and the 1st one i moved was the biggest i saw at the 2 footer range.

Day 2 with Chou

We changed it up and kept it local this time. instead of the stillwater he hit the river hoping to catch some browns before they posted up on their beds. we only saw one  potential bed and it was vacant. the flows had just come up the day before and so i was hopeful of a killer day. it was a decent day but not quite what i was hoping for. it was still a good visit from brian as always.
