Another Long Section

dbone met me at the parking spot for some fishing. as it turned out we had the whole piece of river to ourselves, not even any duck hunters out. the fishing was a bit slow but we both managed a couple of fish. i hate this time of year cause the water always so damn low. as almost always it was another streamer day. we had freezing rain over night but the weather was surprisingly warm. no gloves needed and no ice at all on the guides. my phone was showing the temps were supposed to be around freezing but to us it felt a few degrees warmer.

Another Free Day

I had already gotten on the water when dbone gave me a buzz and wanted to come up and fish. i fished extremely slow so as to give him a chance to catch up. a 2nd day in a row of almost of almost 40 degree temp's and the fish seemed to take notice. not that it was a stellar day by any means but for an early January day it was pretty decent. shane also came up with dbone and between the 3 of us we got into a good number of fish, nothing big but the big fish will be coming.

Just a Couple Hours

only had a couple of hours to fish so just hit up a small section today. caught a small brown on my first cast then lost one my third cast and that was it. didnt move another fish the rest of the stretch.

First day out of 2016

As much as i really didnt care to go out in the freezing cold temp's, i braved it anyway with dbone and scott. plan A was frozen, almost completely over, plan B was the same, plan C also the same but plan D was fishable. the snow, ice and sunrise made for some cool photos and we even managed to streamer up a few fish, small fish but still fish. i bounced at 11:30 but dbone and scott pressed on.

The Mid Week Plus

the main plus about fishing mid week, especially in the freezing cold, is that you dont generally have any competition on the water. there were 3 different sections we were looking at fishing but as it turned out, there was so little water coming thru the dam that the bottom 2 sections we thought about fishing were about 70% froze over. we had to go straight to the upper section and luckily there was no one there, in fact there wasnt anybody there the whole afternoon. with the water being so low the fish were super spooky which made for some tough fishing. we didnt get skunked but there were only a small few to hand. flows showed just under 100, but it seemed more like around 50 to me.

Loop Customer Service

I have to give a shout out to loop. when i came home on vacation back in may i sent in a couple broken loop rods and a loop FW reel that i had bounce checked off my jeep going down the highway. the foot was bent and a put a few nice dings in the reel which i blended out to my satisfaction. i finally got back home 2 weeks ago and checked out my returned merchandise and to my surprise they sent me a brand new reel. i was really just looking for the foot to be replaced since that was the only discrepancy that i listed for it. i just thought that was pretty cool of them.

extremely slow

yet another extremely slow streamer day. 3 of us chucked streamers on water that none of us have fished in a few year due to stream access being taken away from the public again. now that we, the public, have it back its time to get into some waters that have been untouchable for the last few years. due to the lack of snow and run-off for the last few years , it was exactly as i remembered it. we caught a few smaller fish but it was still good to get out. it snowed on us most of the day and it was a bit chilly. for as much great looking water as we covered there just isnt much to write home about.
