Love throwing dries

Me and matt had started off locally on the bigger water but after and only 2hrs and not a fish in sight we decided to drive over the pass and hit some small water despite the temps being in the low 50s and overcast, hoping to get into some fish on dries anyway. it wasnt an action packed day but we did get into a solid amount of fish despite the weather so that made it all the better. saw a handful of cicadas in the trees but they didnt seem to like the colder weather, very lethargic.

Went back out

the 1st day throwing dries last wknd was rewarding enough to have me back out the other day for another round. the weather was great and the fishing didnt disappoint, despite the flows coming down a noticeable amount. again, an ant, or any flavor of parachute mayfly flavor was producing. last wknd was only a couple of browns but on this day it was mostly browns. i fished almost the whole section with only seeing one other person gearing up as i drove by. i did surprisingly see an early cicada. i was fishing a small run and i saw it plop on the water. surprised the hell out of me

1st dry fly action of the season

Drove over to one of my favorite little creeks to see if i could get some love on dry flies. between black ants and different colors of parachute type mayflies it was a pretty damn good day. saw a few bugs coming off including, PMDs, BWOs and a couple of Brown Drakes dancing above one run. great day

One of my favorites

Me and matt went back to one of my all time favorites. we fished a stretch we'd only fished a couple of times and we ended up seeing more big fish there then ever before, just couldnt get most of them to eat. matt managed a couple of a nymph dropper and i got mine on a couple different dry patterns including my 1st of the year on a mouse. the weather was beautiful

Took willow out for some exercise

Drove over to Pineview hoping to get into something but was also unsure of the water levels. got there and as i feared the lake is full and the water line is up in the trees and bushes so there was no shore line to walk which made the fishing aspect of the morning very short lived, but i did hpwever see a couple of cruising musky but couldnt get any love. Willow however was having a blast cause the 2 places where there was just a smidge of shore she got to run around and pick of sticks and she got a good swim in playing fetch for awhile. she was exhausted at the end of it all.

The rains caught up to the river

Even though all the flows around these parts were high i went to check out a particular section and to my surprise it looked money. i didnt even rig up before walking to the river cause i made my doubts that the river would look good. had Willow out with me to learn more about being a river dog and other then the 1st time she had to cross the river, she did real good. she had never seen, smelled or tasted a fish but she got in plenty of that this day. the fishing ended up being pretty bad ass and one of my best days in awhile. in my opinion the weather was a plus all day as it rained the whole time i was out which kept most of the riff raff away.

In between the rains

Me and matt found a stretch that neither of us had fished in maybe 2 yrs. the flows dropped into perfect shape and we did manage to get into a good number of fish. weather was perfect as was the water

A quick morning

Myself and matt drove upstream to try and find some water that wasnt just a piss trickle. we found a small section and managed a few fish out of it. it certainly didnt fish as good as it looked but thats the way it often goes

Nephew was in town

My nephew was in town for a couple of days and was anxious to fish so i took him out for a few hours in the morning. he has only tried fly fishing a couple of times and that has only been with me. we threw streamers and he ended up landing a small fish his 1st cast. small or not he had never caught a fish on a fly rod so we were both super stoked. he ended up catching 4 and missing a few others. he was so excited and i was glad that he was able to get into some fish

Back in shape again

After another couple days of heavy rain the rivers were high and chocolate, high enough to make some substantial changes in the river at spots. it looked like i was the 1st one there since the river dropped back into shape which had only been maybe a couple of days before. the water looked great although it was a little lower then id prefer but it was still money and the fish were on the move. the weather was great, the river was in good shape and i got into a lot of fish so it was a fun day.

Fishable again

Between the current high chocolate waters and the last, we caught a day where the river had become fishable. the weather was great but i dont feel the river fished as good as the river was. flows were perfect and the water had some stain but plenty fishable. it didnt fish bad so thats a plus. enjoyable day

A different system

We decided to hit something completely different, in the sense that it was a different river system that we havent fished in a couple of years. we wanted to park down lower but it was heavily posted so we drove upstream aways to the bridge and walked down to our starting point. matt started with a couple solid cutts. hes been fishing it for years and said those were the only cutts hed seen in there. other then that we both got into a fair amount of fish, nothing big but some solid fish. the weather was warm enough that no jackets were required and no guides that needed deicing. was an enjoyable day
