The Toothy Ones

Getting kind of wore out on fishing the local rivers for trout all the time so me and dbone headed to the lake. we weren't picky on what we caught, bass or tiger musky. dbone had spotted this musky chilln right off shore but after a couple of casts at him dbone snagged up on some shit so he told me to jump in there. it wasn't much of a take or a fight but it was the first one of season so i'm happy with that. this guy had an upper lip that was shorter then it's lower and some bug eyes to go with it. not the prettiest specimen that's for sure. earlier in the day as we were walking the shoreline was saw a wake in the shallows up ahead. i figured it was a carp milling around in the shallow mud but it was a nice musky that was chasing around a smaller fish (bout 15"). as dbone got closer to make a cast at it, it cruised out of sight, then right after this smaller fish started heading towards the deep but it didn't get more then a few feet and that musky came racing back at it. that musky was going all out for that fish and after some intense mud wrestling the musky came out with that other fish sitting sideways in the musky's mouth. we got to watch that musky slowly retreat to the depth with it's meal lodged in it's teeth. pretty sweet to watch.

It Can't Always Fish Well

Me and dbone fished low today since the water was looking quite nice. aside from me losing a slab, it was quite slow. i landed one and dbone landed two.

Post Rain

The rains the other night brought the rivers and up and stained them again. fishing was short and other then 1 fish, unproductive.

Productive Day

I got word that the upper river had come up since i fished it a couple of weeks ago so i drove up to check it out. we had some good rain last night so i was expecting it to be a little staind. as it turned out it had not come up a bit and was very clear. a lot lower then i like but since i was there i decided to hit it anyway. the fishing was still pretty good but with the river that low there was a lot less water to hit and thru that section pretty quickly. i decided to drive back down river where i had seen the water was a little staind and up a smidge. there was someone already parked where i wanted to fish so i hit the water below him. it fished really well.

An Afternoon with Dbone

I was gonna pursue some tiger musky but dbone called me and wanted to chase trout so we streamered some trout.

More of the Same

Meaning more streamers in my back yard. got into a few nice fish and even hooked my dumb ass dog. he just can't resist trying to eat my streamer when it's dangling in the air. i am constantly telling him NO but he ended up getting a hold of it today. i don't think he liked that but it didn't deter him from trying over and over again to get it.

A Quick Minute

Had a bunch of shit to do today so made it a short day. the water was up quite a bit and colored some but manageable. managed to land a couple including one that went 21". got into a couple others that were in the 20" mark but could not keep them on.
