Starting to see a few fish

 Its still not productive out but we are starting to see a few fish moving around here and there. we landed a couple each, nothing to write home about but enjoyable anyway.

On the books for the new year

Went out for a few hours the other day and although the water was still higher then i prefer this time of year, the weather was nice and snowy, which i dig. it wasnt overly good fishing but i did move a handful of fish and landed my 1st couple of 2024, so i am on the books.

 

An enjoyable last day

...of the year. went up river aways and threw some meat. the water was really low so there was more walking then fishing. just had to find the deeper runs/holes. i fished upstream 2hrs worth and managed to land a few nicely colored up fish. all standard sized fish but still holding great color. i was back at my jeep by 1/4 to 9 so i thought i would take a gander at some of the water a bit lower. there was no one parked where i wanted to fish. the water on this section is up quite aways so a bit tougher for winter fishing in my opinion. fished a very short piece and moved a few fish including 1 very large fish. landed 1 that had nice color

Shit month

December continues to be a shit month for chuckin meat. every once in awhile ill pick up a few fish in December but so far its been exceptionally shitty and could be due to the uncharacteristically high waters for this time of year. who knows? a good sunrise and some fog are always worth some photos though

Probably my last stillwater of the year

We took the drive out to the big lake with hopes of a much better day then the last time we were there. once again it was very foggy in the morning which always makes for some cool shots. we started off in one of my favorite fingers but the fishing was pretty uneventful, 1 or 2 small fish each. the water is the highest that ive seen out there in a minute so maybe that affected the fishing, who knows. after a few hours we drove over to a favorite bay and walked that shoreline for aways and back with miuch better results. even though not many and nothing but the typical cutts out there, we did get into a few handfuls including a couple doubles. turned out to be a decent day all in all

Suckers???????

Took a day trip out that way in search of some nice trout. it was a nymphing kind of day but the day started off rather slow. in the 1st couple of hours between the 2 of us we landed a couple real small rainbows and matt a sucker. the 2nd half of the day was a lot more eventful but unfortunately the 2nd half of the day only produced a few small trout, 2 carp and about 20 suckers. i dont fish out there much but never heard of or seen a day filled with almost nothing but suckers. they sure were digging a black balance leech. the weather was great but the suckers were certainly not worth the drive.

The berry

Hit the berry for a few hours but unfortunately nothing to show for it. definitely one of the worst days I've had out there. we got into a couple smaller fish but nothing of note. the best part of the day was some cool fog photos in the morning
