Not a good day of catching

We saw some really nice fish but between 2 of us matt caught the only fish of the day but at least it was a decent cuttie which there arent many of in this section.

Westward

Me and matt got on the road at 0430 to make the long drive to the river. 1st time weve seen it this year and it definitely had some changes. hiking down river we came a crossed some fresh adult bear tracks on in the mud on the trail. a little further down the trail we saw cub prints. that really kind of put us on edge but luckily no unwanted encounter.  the weather was pretty decent but the fishing was a bit slow. we only managed a few cutthroat each but it was still a fun day

 

Another round of streamers

Had a certain spot in mind but decided to look at some different water and check the flows. the flows were still a bit up which made some of the wading tough but it was still manageable. the morning weather was nice and i did see a handful of fish including a couple bigger fish. i only mustered 3 but i wasnt complaining cause with the water conditions, which the water was also a bit staind up, i was just happy to see fish.

Alternate plan

In my mind what i saw happening was starting my morning with a mouse and getting into a few fish. then as the morning started to warm up, i would switch to a hopper and get into a few on that as well so i didnt think a streamer would be needed and so i already brought 1 on the water with me. after a slow, as in no fish seen, i decided to put on that streamer. got into a few fish including landing a fat 18" and a good looking 19". then while fishing to this run i decided to dredge my streamer thru it and once i got snagged up i then realized that it was the only streamer i brought so had ne business dredging it. busted it off on the snag so then put on various dries and did not see another fish. 

2 days in a row

I joined matt this time and headed to the same river just a little further up river. the weather was good for the morning but around 11 the wind picked up pretty good which made the casting a bit tough, at least with any sort of accuracy. the fishing started off very slow with mice, drakes and cicadas but eventually the mouse started picking up steam and then the green drake patterns lit up. as of last year there were 4 or 5 big beaver dams that we to navigate but now after this past big run off all the beaver dams have been blown out. we didnt get into any big fish but we caught quite a few and managed to get into some decent cutts. fished up about 4 miles 

Tossing dries

Took a gamble and drove my jeep over the pass to look at a river that i havent seen since last summer. my jeep had some issues early in the drive but i decided to take a chance and continue on. i got to the river a tad past daylight and no one was around. started with a cicada but it didnt last long before i chose to switch to a mouse. a mouse did an outstanding job until about the last hour or so. switched again and got a couple on a purple haze then cleaned house with a green drake. the weather was great and the fishing was pretty sweet.

Another morning throwing streamers

Went out again not throwing dries. this section of water just is looking really good currently and couldnt pass up a gorgeous morning of throwing meat. moved a good amount of fish and landed a few solid ones.
