Slim pickins

With all the snowpack weve had this winter most sections of the river are running way higher then normal and most of those are running, in my opinion, to high for winter fishing. the fish tend to like the mellower water this time of year. it hasnt fished as well as normal since the water has been higher but this section seems to be the best option right now

To cold

I went out to strip some streamers and although i felt warm enough the temps apparently were not, including the water itself. i made the long walk downstream tredging thru the untouched snow getting my cardio in. different go down as far as i had planned cause the snow wore me out.  jumped in and fished up a few runs before i got not only tired of  having to deice my leader and about the 1st 10ft of fly line, but also that my streamer even fresh out of the water from putting in work and my fly was still frozen. fuck that! i fished about 30 minutes or so before just getting out, tredging thru the snow back to my jeep and going home. didnt move a fish but winter always makes for good photos

 

A little more productive

Today was a little more productive, we moved a good amount of fish and landed a few as well. matt landed the biggest fish of the day. the weather was real nice and the water looked good

  

A brief hour

Got to the river before sun up and waited around just to end up fishing an hour. it was brutally cold in the morning with my fingers not wanting to warm up. almost went home instead but had to at least make an effort. moved a couple and landed 1 but not till my last hole

 

Up a bit further

Was solo so i drove upriver a little bit to fish a section i dont get out to much.  the morning temps werent to bad and there was no one else around. i moved quite a few fish but only landed a few. pretty fun morning

Very short day off

Met up with matt before the sun came up but we only lasted about an hour. it was brutally cold so matt called it and i relocated. nobody was around this short stretch so jumped in. got into a good amount of fish but it was isolated to certain runs. landed my 1st 20" of the year so that was a bonus.

 

Still to cold for after work

Drove over to the river after work for an hour or 2. the whole section was in the shade and the sun was down when i got done. still way to cold for any late in the day excursions for me, fingers hurt. did get into a few fish though
