The slope

Its the first time this year that i have made it over since its been fishable and it did not disappoint. i did get high holed from a dude and his kid that could clearly see that i was the only around so there was an abundant amount of water to fish so im not sure why he decided to plop in less then 100yds above me is beyond me. anyway the fishing was great for small cutties and brooks on a dry fly, mostly the beetle and the scenery is always great over there.

First time on it this year

I was ready to throw dries so me and jerry drove to some of what  is usually outstanding dry water and we were truly disappointed. the water was in great shape, nothing noteable coming off and the weather was great but for whatever reason they just werent looking up i guess. we thru purple haze, beetles, hoppers, cicadas and something else. jerry and i each caught one lousy fish, although we did see others. it was truly disappointing fish wise but it is still always great to be able to get out

Its been about a month....

.....since ive thrown streamers on a river and i sure have missed it. although i ended up throwing a mouse for most of the day, nate and dbone stuck to streamers.the fishing wasnt near what i was expecting but we did some a few fish. a couple were mid 20s that both missed my mouse and dbone landed a real solid fish. there were a few smaller ones scattered in the mix. once the day was over and we got back to my jeep, i went to crank it and my harmonic balancer just fell on the ground. fuck me! had to be towed back home.

A 5 lake day

I drove to the mountains solo over the weekend. as i was driving up i was still debating where i  was gonna go. i chose a new area with a lake that is supposed to contain some small goldens. i started there and hiked my way around 5 different lakes. i did not see a golden and between the 5 lakes, 2 of them seemed dead to me. one of them had substational depth to hold fish thru a normal winter but the other seeminly dead lake seemed like it would be a winter kill each year. 2 of the lakes held decent fish and 1 of them fished really well. all in all it was an enjoyable, peaceful 5 1/2 mile stroll capped off with a double burger and blackberry shake from polar king

Headed East

All week i had in mind to hit a couple of Tiger Musky lakes out east but as the week went on my mind started to drift towards the higher elevation. by thursday i knew i had talked my self out of musky and into the mountains. this time of year the mountains tend to change my priorities, this time to chepeka and surrounding lakes.i went in search of cutties and 1 cuttie was all the cutties i could handle apparently. i did land a few small brookies as well, but those werent my intended targets. although i only landed 1 cutt, it was by far the most colorful i have ever caught. i did see a handful of critters

while i was u at 10,700ft.
