Chucking a Variety

Me and corey made a couple hour drive to some private ranch access that i have. the water was in great shape and the weather was perfect. the fish werent overly active but we managed a decent number of fish, nothing big but a couple of decent ones. i got a couple small cutts on a double chubby, corey caught a few on streamers and we both mustered a good number on mice. we gave them a variety of presentations to choose from and they all produced.

A Little Late Maybe

Jake and I had fished this stream a couple of summers ago, early july and had a blast. this time almost 2 months later, the fishing was garbage and there was a good sized people hatch. i think its due to the dog days of summer that was fishing was turned off but it also could be because people had already pounded everything. it was still a good time in a beautiful environment though.

Really Takes me Home

a yearly hike

every august i try and hike around the res to fish the creek coming in. i made it around the res yesterday. the hike was pleasant but this year the fishing was off. the fish almost seemed non existant and only caught one fish about 4 inches. the fish are small in the creek anyway but most of the fish i usually catch there are around 8-10 inches. i lost interest after a couple of hours so i decided to hike my way back out and hit the river coming out of the res. it was slow as well but managed a few fish on some terrestrials. the highlight of my day was seeing a few bucks and a flock of turkeys on the drive up.

Soon Things Will Pick Up

Went out again today for a few hours and again i saw some really nice fish but neither of those would eat. i did come away with 2 fish and both of those were out of the same run.

Looking Fwd to Fall

it hasnt been a good summer of fishing for me and today was more of the same, although i was chucking meat this time and only caught one smaller fish but did turn a couple of really nice fish

The Slope

Me and scott made it over to the slope to fish a small stream with hopes of finding a bigger fish or two, bigger for this water that is (13-14 inches). we did not but the small fish gave us plenty of entertainment and the peace and quiet was extremely nice.
