Hoppers for the win

Once again hoppers were the main fly of choice. Hoppers were on fire all day but an Unsinkabettle, a mouse and a couple streamers also produced fish. the weather of course was sunny and hot but being in the river kept us from over heating. as we were getting towards then end of the day i suggested a water break but it also turned into a body cool down break where we took turns floating through a deeper hole that we had just fished. was an absolute bomber day and the only thing that sucked was Logun losing a monster cuttie.

Something new but old

Used to fish this water fairly often years ago but partly cause it got way over crowded and the fishing went downhill i just stopped going around. Me and matt took a cruise out there to check it out with only a little intel to go on. hoppers and mice

Upstream

Took a look at another piece of water i havent seen in a year or so. no major post runoff changes but some of the nicer runs that were there got filled in a bit and didnt produce anything for me. my morning started a bit rough when i took a spill only about 40 yards into my day. landed firmly on my ass which tweaked my chronic bad back. contemplated just calling it cause i was hurtin a little but chose to press on. i got into a decent amount of fish but most were real small but i managed a couple solid fish. took one more spill on the way back but i landed forward and was able to catch myself. i enjoyed sitting on the edge of the bank and watching the yellow sallys crawl around. i was a mess

2 bodies of water

We headed out at o'dark thirty in the morning and drove a couple hours to get to our destination. when we arrived a couple of the access spots were occupied already so we drove to one that was free and made our way to the river. matt started with streamers since it was early in the morning. i rigged up with a green drake dry. the streamer got minimal action but my dries that i threw didnt even move a fish. after about 3hrs of that beat down we headed in the direction of home but stopped to take a look at a different river. we fished our way down from the bridge with both of us throwing dries. minimal action again and what action there was it was little fish. we switched to streamers on the way back up which proved to be a much better option. we both saw what we felt were in the 2ft range, i lost one that was about 23" and matt landed one that was 20". still didnt see much but we at least saw some action.

Looked at something new

Decided to look at a different section to see the changes that run off made. for the most part that section was close to what it was earlier in the year but there were some changes. ran some streamers thru it but it was pretty slow. i moved a few fish and mustered 2 smaller ones. nothing of any size that i saw. went out early to beat the heat

A.M. Streamers

the flows on some local water finally dropped to a level worth at least making the drive over to investigate. river looked pretty good but was clearly still a bit high. i decided to give it a go anyway and see what kind of changes the run off made this time. i like a lot of the changes made and am curious to see how it fishes once the flows have stabilized. i moved a few fish and landed 2 so that was a bonus
