Done till the spawn is over

Went out yesterday after work for an hour or so. saw my first redds but no fish on them. i ended up with just 2 cutts but 1 of them was 18" so i was stoked about that. im done with the brown trout rivers till after the spawn

Short section

After work just went out a hit a short piece. got into a few fish including a couple good ones but only landed a couple smaller fish. this brown looks like it took a hammer to the shnoze

Chou day 2 (couple of hours)

We on

ly had a few hours to fish so we stayed close to my place, but the fishing was bad enough (moved 1 fish) that we called it a morning after about 2 hours so that there was no rushing to get brian down south  to the place he was staying for the rest of the week.

Chou in for his yearly visit

Chou came in a couple of days before his wife so he could get in some fishing. myself, him and matt got on the water extra early so as to hopefully avoid being high holed again. it seems to work. it was pretty damn cold in the morning but gradually warmed up as the sun started to show its face. the fishing was also slow, with a fish here and there, for about the first 3 and 1/2 miles of our 5 mile trek up river and then in the last little over a mile the light switch was turned on and it was fish after fish at that point until we called it a day. bummer was the long ass walk back.

My day off

After i dropped off alanna at school i drove straight to the river. it wasnt till about an hour and a half before i got into any fish. started with a small planter rainbow but then in a hole where ive only caught 2 fish before, i landed a solid 20" buck. i only fished up to a certain point cause there was another piece of water i had to checkout again. i was hopeful

but only mustered an 18" hen. blah!

A small sample

fished up this tiny little creek about a 1/2 mile. i had heard a few years back that it fished decently for some decent little trout. wellp fast forward to today and aside from a much bigger fish that i kicked up, all i saw were slabs in the 2-3 inch range.

Some after work stuff

Met up with gerald again for a couple of hours after work. it was pretty uneventful for the both of us with me catching the only fish between us and it wasnt even a good fish, but it did get me off of the

3 sections of poor production

Met up with gerald. the 1st section the water was in great shape but we could not locate hardly any fish, we went to section #2 and the flows were super low with minimal exposed water thru all the vegetation. after that we kind of went different ways. my 3rd section was my most productive but i got high holed in the 1st hour of fishing it so i called it a day.

....the fish that is. 2 days ago it was lights out but today i had a hard time finding any fish. i fished 2 different sections and in the 2nd sections i mustered a few small fish.

Irrigation is finally done for the year

Its been a few days since the flows leveled out. the water had a little stain, but it was perfect for throwing streamers. the fish were on from the get go but it took me awhile before i could keep one on, but when i did it was one after another. fun couple of hours on the water
