First hike of the year
Took 2 of my daughters for a short trip up in the Uintas. the hike was pleasant but the fishing was unimpressive. caught a few small brookies. i usually fish this lake in the fall which it fishes great then. this was more for the short hike and just to get outdoors

An absolutely amazing day
Matt has permission to fish a nice little stream that flows into a semi local reservoir and had invited me to join him. ive fished water coming out of the res but not the water flowing in. it absolutely did not disappoint. numerous bugs were hatching, caddis, mayflies and cicadas. the river is full of pocket water with some open flats, tight spaces that required no shortage of bow and arrow casting. we caught cutts, cuttbows and browns. this creek at times contains some exceptionally large fish, pushing the 30" mark. we took several browns that were 18-19 inches and most fish were in the 15-17 inch range. it was an all day dry fly affair. beetles, hoppers, stimi's and of course a purple haze. aside from being a bit breezy at times, the weather was pretty damn perfect. i dont know if i'll have a more kick ass day the rest of the year. as a bonus, we ran into a rattler on the side of the dirt road on the way out.
