Its Been a Week

A week always seems so long to me to not have fished. i was able to get out for a short few today. the water was up and clearing, i really expected the fishing to be really good but it was slow unfortunately.

Me and the Little One

My kids have gone back home so sunday it was just me and alanna on the water. went over to check out some stillwater and as i figured most of it was still iced over except a little bit of shoreline which was pretty well occupied. it ended up being nothing more then ali's sandbox. i then hit a couple of holes in the creek coming out but i really wasnt prepared for that so that was a big miss. then is was over to the bigger river and we mustered a whole 1 fish from there but i really didnt expect much since we didnt get on the bigger river till around 2:30 so i was pretty sure that it was probably already run through.

Last Day With my Kids

It was my last chance to get out with my kids during this visit and unfortunately shayne wasnt up to the task due to her ankle being sore. me and jake went out and mustered up a few fish. the water had cleared up a bit and the fish were pretty active on the streamers. i had such a good time seeing my son, who only fishes when he's with me, so its been a couple of years, get into some nice fish.

Shayne Gets Out

Finally shaynes ankle was ready to be tested. we just went out for a couple of hours. shayne unfortunately lost a couple of fish and did not land any, was a real bummer cause i really was hoping she'd get at least one. jake managed the only note worthy fish.

Day 2 with Jake

Shayne was still laid up with a bad ankle so me and jake went out again. the water was low and murky but the fish were still on the move. orange and white streamers moved quite a few fish. we only landed a couple each but it wasnt for lack of effort.

My Kids are Back in Town

it was great to fish with my son again today. unfortunately my daughter couldnt make it cause she tweaked her ankle and it hurts her to walk so she chose to stay home. my and jake started at one place but the water was as low as ive ever seen it which made the fishing extremely tough. jake got one on the th cast of the day but we only ended up staying for about an hour cause of the water conditions. we then drove elsewhere where the water was great but we had to drive right into the winter storm. the weather sucked bad, but we got into a few none the less.

Morning Fling

hit the river this morning since everyone was napping. was home by noon to take care of some house cleaning since my kids are coming to town tonight. the water got a even more dirty, but i was still able to get into a few fish. one of the mud banks was just riddled with sows. it was my first day out without at least having a hoodie on. weather was great!

Finishing with a Mouse

after work i rolled to the reever to practice casting. i fished the first half of the stretch with an articulated voodoo queen and landed 6 browns, none of which were big, 14-18 inches. the second half of the stretch and to end my evening i switched to a morrish mouse although i think its a bit early for a mouse. it sure looked sexy though fluttering acrossed the water.

Korkers K5 Bombers (early review)

So i blew out another pair of korkers a few week ago, the KGB's, it was the heel that came apart. ive had them for about 3 years and they were still in real good shape, only because when i got these boots i also got 2 other pair of boots so i wouldnt run thru 1 pair so quickly. also, i was out of country for a year so thats a year with no wear and tear on the boots. anyway i talked to one of the korkers rep's and i was informed that the warranty had expired on these boots but they offered me 50% off of any boot they have so i took the K5's. ive never really been stoked on the quality of korkers boots but i have noticed that with each new pair they come out with, the quality gets a little better. my first impression of these K5 was a more durable look and feel. like the KGB's the K5 boot has a taller profile which really gives it a lot more ankle support. i have only fished with them 2x now so the durability has not been tested yet but i can say that these are probably the most comfortable boot i have ever worn of any sort, combat, work, wading, hunting, etc. i'm diggin them so far.

Rainbows....A Nice Change of Pace

hit some water today with scott and pat. scott had gotten there the day before and camped overnight so he had the scoop on where the fish were biting. the was supposed to be a storm coming thru with some snow and winds so we were hoping that would keep some of the riff raff out and it might have, but there were still a few to many people on the water. it was a day that consisted of mostly whities but we all did manage a few solid rainbows. every fish that i am aware of between the 3 of us at a sow bug. the storm came thru at about noon thirty and by 1:30 we packed it in.
