Quality Day

Myself and jake were all rigged up by the time the sun came up. we had no idea of the water conditions since we had crossed the river in darkness, but i was optimistic for some good water. as it turned out the water was very low and a bit off color. we had fished thru a few good holes and runs with not so much as a moving fish. i told jake that we should fish the up coming bend and if nothing by then then maybe we should relocate to some different water. as luck would have it i caught 2 on that bend and missed several others so staying on that water is what we did and it paid off. with the sun out and the temp's. warming up a bit it turned out to be a killer day. i figure we landed about 15 fish each, none of them topped the 20" mark but several pushed it. the fish were all thick, healthy and acrobatic as all get out. between the weather and the fishing it was a perfect day.

Wild Reverence

Winter is Upon Us

I wanted to get up to some of the higher elevation lakes and chase some brook trout. i got dbone to join me and as we entered into wyoming the snow started coming down pretty good. i kind of figured that once the sun came up it would burn off the crappy weather and give us some decent weather. wrong! the sun did make a quick showing, maybe 10 minutes total but other then that it snowed on us all damn day and was colder then shit. on top of that we didn't see a brookie in that lake at all, in fact the two of us only mustered up five fish and they were all greyling. that lake is full of brookies and in the past i have seen maybe one greyling out of every 2-3 trips up there. it was an unusual day all around. i am up there 3-4 times each fall at this time and the weather is always nice and the water is always about 15 feet or so lower. we did fish another lake close by on the way out for about an hour. i did manage two brookies there and a few small cutts.

A Senior Moment

Got up this morning to go chase some brookies. got about 2 miles down the road and realized i forgot my reel and tippet, went back and got it. then got about an hour down the road, stopped to get gas and breakfast and realized i forgot my wallet so i couldn't get gas and didn't have enough to even reach my destination. came back home got my wallet and figured i would do some taco time for breakfast and if they were closed then i would go to subway instead. taco time was closed and then drove about 2 miles past subway and had to do a u-turn to get some. since i was already back home i chose just to stay local and chase browns.

Back Yard Boogie

Me and jake hit some water again today. we kind of expected high and muddy conditions but instead it was low and pretty clear. the day was pretty uneventful with minimal catching and a butt load of casting. jake however did lose two really nice colored up browns, both would have gone 20" at least. we also expected cooler temps., with rain but instead got warm, muggy with no wind, shit it was to damn warm.

The Waters are on the Rise

Myself and jake met up for a few hours on some local stuff. the water was up and a bit dark due to all the rains we've been having. we moved some pretty good fish but those proved to be not as committal as some of the smaller fish.it was a pretty slow day and i blame that on the water conditions. it is good to finally see some rain though cause we need it.

A Wet One

Spent the day chucking meat with dbone. rained for the about the first hour and a half, then a few hours of just clouds before mother nature let loose again. the rain added a smidge of color to the river and the fishing was pretty damn good. this time of year the colors on the browns is so buttery good.
